From GAC Chair, Cindy Hill.....
URGENT!  Ask your Representative to vote "Yes" on two nursing bills.
Please click on the link at the bottom of this email to urge your Representative to vote YES on passing two bipartisan, AACN-supported bills:
  • Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act (H.R. 2713), and the
  • Improving Access to Maternity Care Act (H.R. 1209).
These bills are scheduled to be voted on by the full House of Representatives on Monday, November 14. The passage of these bills would mark a monumental step towards becoming law during the remainder of the 114th Congress.

Background:
H.R. 2713-Introduced by Reps. Lois Capps, RN (D-CA) and David Joyce (R-OH), this bill would reauthorize the Nursing Workforce Development programs (Title VIII of the Public Health Service Act) through Fiscal Year 2021 and proposes minor changes to modernize the programs.
H.R. 1209-Introduced by Reps. Michael Burgess, MD (R-TX), Lois Capps, RN (D-CA), and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), this bill would establish a maternity Health Professional Shortage Area designation to allow the full scope of maternity care providers to be placed in areas of need.
